The socialization of African children: contradiction between modern and traditional social norms
Abstract
In Black Africa's society, traditional culture continues to persist, clashing against that of the industrialized society brought about by colonialist education. During infancy, the child receives the ancient cultural roots from his mother, which are directed toward educating the child with indulgence and making him feel equal to the rest. Western education demands a certain performance fron the child and also that he be the first among all. The African child lives subjected to this contradiction. Keywords
