Presentar-se com a candidat a la direcció de departament universitari: una decisió complexa
Resum
Quan un director d’un departament universitari deixa d’exercir les seves funcions, els membres que en formen part saben que necessiten un successor, de manera que, uns quants mesos abans que aquest fet succeeixi, hi ha moviments per aconseguir que es presentin candidats per ocupar aquest càrrec. Amb tot, el procés, lluny de ser fàcil, previsible o lineal, és ple de controvèrsies i dificultats. En el present article ens plantegem conèixer, mitjançant entrevistes en profunditat, les opinions de directors en exercici de departaments universitaris d’educació de tota la geografia espanyola sobre la decisió d’optar per realitzar aquesta feina. Després de contactar amb totes les persones implicades, es van poder desenvolupar disset entrevistes amb directors experimentats i novells. Els resultats mostren que els candidats tenen raons molt variades per presentar-s’hi i que en alguns casos repeteixen l’experiència, atès que sol ser fàcil per a ells formar equip i senten que en els estils directius hi predomina la continuïtat. Hem de concloure afirmant que cal una formació específica sòlida i una investigació més àmplia sobre aquest tema que contribueixi a identificar les possibilitats i els límits reals de les direccions departamentals, a fi que els membres dels departaments coneguin millor aquests càrrecs tan necessaris i rellevants.
