Organizational strategies in dealing with diversity
Abstract
The author proposes some organisational strategies which would allow educational institutions to educate within diversity, taking into account the differences existing among students. First of all, he analyses the concept of diversity and thinks over the functionality of schools organisations, while analysing the different stages of these institutions. He also presents a general view of some possible ways to attend to diversity inside schools. He proposes a number of organisational measures in order to deal with the diversity of students. These would involve the institutional frame, the structures and the social relationship system within schools. To conclude with, he remarks that a single organisational way of dealing with diversity does not exist and, therefore, it becomes necessary to bring about change in the organisational dynamic of schools in order to respond the diversity challenge.
