Quality, a controversial concept

Abstract

Quality, translated as something that is good and with high levels of acceptance, is a prior aim. However, it can turn into a trap if it is a liberal approach alibi, that justify the need to quantify results, classify situations and distribute resources. Rebuilt a new meaning of qualty does imply the detection of uses and abuses that are taking place. It is also necessary to clarify the real meanings of the word, and to answer questions such as: Quality in what, and for whom?, Who defines it?, What for and why is it defined?…
This approach lets analyze the concept of quality, as well as clarify the requirements to answer certain questions, and present some problems that go along with it.
