Learning communities: participation, quality and social transformation
Abstract
Learning Communities are a real working alternative with great possibilities of transformin
those schools with pupils comming from deprived socioeconomical environments wich are usually thrown to exclussion. The article presents briefly the theoretical framework and a description of the most remarcable aspects concerning the beginning of a learning community experience in a citty next to Barcelona (Santa Coloma de Gramenet) in wich the authors have been participating. After presenting the beginnings and the first steps of the community one of the most important challenges is stated: the sustainability of such an initiative.
