Scientific Androcentrism: the obstacle to gender equality in the current school

Abstract

Education was one of the first reivindication of women. It ment the possibilitiy to equal men in social areas. Nowadays, women represent an equitative percentage in compulsory education, secondary education and in a lot of university studies. They also obtain very good results on their studies. In front of these data, what is failing to perpetuate unequal social opportunities? This paper analyzes one of the most important problems yet present in our schools: androcentrism in cientific contents developed in classrooms as well as its transmition through textbooks.
