Road Safety education and attitude change: obtained results and future proposals

Abstract

In this study, a global overview is exposed to present different education and training programs of road safety, designed by the Càtedra de Formació i Educació Viàries and by the ERES’v research group (Equip de Recerca en Educació i Seguretat Viàries), applied in all Catalonia within the framework of the training of the driving instructors and in training of the drive learners and drivers of different ages and with several vehicles’ driving. Different models to improve the mobility that prepare the path to the model of attitudes change are explained. This model inspires the design, application and evaluation of the different intervention programmes, all with the aim of to reduce the risk driving behaviour, through training based on the attitude change. Finally, some results are presented and some future
lines of research are proposed to improve the effectiveness of the road safety education and training in benefit of the reduction of traffic accidents.
