Pros y contras de dirigir un departamento universitario: análisis sistemático de literatura

Resumen

Los departamentos universitarios son órganos intermedios estratégicos, necesarios y relevantes entre los equipos rectorales de gobierno y el personal docente e investigador. En este trabajo nos preguntamos qué evidencias científicas ofrece la investigación desarrollada respecto a la dirección de departamentos universitarios. El texto está articulado en torno a seis grandes focos: aspectos facilitadores de la gestión, aspectos entorpecedores, ventajas de ser director o directora, inconvenientes, éxitos logrados y fracasos. Se ha realizado un análisis sistemático de 31 artículos de la literatura científica publicada en la Web of Science y Scopus. Los resultados muestran factores facilitadores como la colaboración y factores entorpecedores como la escasa autonomía; ventajas como sentir desafíos constantes e inconvenientes como la implicación que requiere; logros como impulsar nuevas ideas y fracasos como la dificultad de cambiar las culturas departamentales. Las conclusiones revelan que es necesario centrar futuros estudios en el examen de los retos de las direcciones departamentales y los éxitos y las dificultades que aparecen en su consecución para poder tener una visión más completa de los pros y contras de las direcciones de departamento.
