Abstract

This article aims at analyzing the curricular and organizational changes derived from the massive and universal inclusion of computers in educational centers. ITC centers, fostered by Junta de Andalucia, have supposed a notable inversion in Andalucia and are current icons of an enormous institutional and educational innovation, with an educational web of more than 200.000 working on line computers. This research paper, financed by The Spanish Ministry of Education (Plan Nacional de I+D 2004/2007), offers some relevant information about the repercussions of the teaching-learning process in those centers where computers are to be found in all the students’ desks and are habitually used in almost all the classes.
This research is carried out in 16 primary and secondary educational centers of Andalucia through a combination of both quantitative and qualitative investigation resources. It further reflects some of the more immediate repercussions that the presence of the ITC is having for teaching activities and methods. Moreover, the determining aspects for the didactic use of these resources are also analyzed. Lastly, a series of recommendations for their use in the classroom and the center, as well as for their administrative support, is included.
