Latin American School is looking for pedagogical leaders
Abstract
The educational systems in Latin America have undergone considerable change over the last twenty years. During the 1990s practically every country introduced reforms that have shaped the current educational scenario. However, transformation is a long and difficult process, and schools have not always made visible progress. This paper defends the thesis, supported by the literature and international experiences, that the pedagogical leadership is crucial to educational change and to improve learning and teaching at all levels. Also, the article discusses the lack of relevance the issue has historically had in Latin America. We need today more than ever, to investigate the successful leadership profile for Latin-American school principals and the set of practices required to support it.Keywords
