Education and gender: Experiences from feminist pedagogies in the field of education
Abstract
The introduction of the so-called "gender perspective" or feminist pedagogies is currently an unavoidable need to be able to respond to social challenges regarding gender equality.
Numerous investigations show evidence on gender power relations that are already perceived from primary education through various manifestations such as the territorialization or segmentation of space as a result of power; gaming and relationship preferences; stereotypical gender attitudes, gender identity and expression, and sexualized gender stereotypes; disparate academic achievement based on gender; or even sexist peer-to-peer bullying or LGBTIQ-phobic bullying. These injustices contribute to the students experiencing discomforts that negatively impact their educational experiences and trajectories.
